Charron-Lemieux in a landslide: Cochrane elects a new mayor

Sylvie Charron-Lemieux is moving up from her seat as a town of Cochrane councillor to the head of the table.

She handily won the two-woman race for mayor in Monday’s election. Her vote total of 1,894 was a landslide compared to fellow councillor Sue Nelson’s 292.

Charron shares her success with what she calls her incredible campaign team.

“Honestly, I think the difference was just I’m real,” she tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com. “I am who I am. I’m an open book. People knew what they were electing, and I’m very pleased with the outcome.”

The mayor-elect says while campaigning, she compiled a long list of priorities once she takes

“We’ve had a high turnover of staff and the operations and to sdtabilize the finances. Those are the very top priorities. Then there’s a long list of things that need to be worked on.”

Charron-Lemieux adds that she’s enthusiastic with the team she’ll have around the council table to make good, solid decisions.
