Why the Cochrane Legion’s flags aren’t at half mast

Lest anyone think the Cochrane branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is being disrespectful, there’s an explanation why its flags aren’t at half mast in honour of the military members killed and injured in Wainwright, Alberta on the weekend.

National HQ of the Legion has asked all branches to lower their flags as a symbol of mourning, respect and remembrance.

However, the flagpoles outside of Branch 89 aren’t the type that allows for raising and lowering.

The Legion says it’s strictly that limitation and in no way reflects a lack of respect or recognition of the fire tragedy.
