Wide area of Cochrane loses water

Most of Cochrane has spent most of the Tuesday workday without tap water.

The town’s infrastructure manager, Sam Gomez, says around 10:00am, a contractor working for Enbridge accidentally cut a water line near the yellow bars on the southeast side of Lake Commando.

“The connection was in the middle, so there were two large areas that were affected that had to be shut off,” Gomez points out. “So, it affected the majority of the town.”

The town had material in stock that it lent to the contractor, allowing it to begin repairs right away.

Gomez expects the water to be back on in time for supper, clean and safe to use.
