No speed reduction yet for Airport Rd. in Timmins

The speed limit on Airport Rd. in Timmins between Lafleur Dr. and Laforest Rd. won’t be reduced for now. But it’s still an issue for city council.

Growth and infrastructure director Scott Tam reported this week on a request to look into reducing the speed limit on 2.45 km stretch from its current 70 km/h to 50. That would increase driving time from just over two minutes to almost three minutes.

He recommended that the accompanying bylaw not be passed.  Ultimately, council deferred it to allow time to consult with the 21 property owners who have driveways onto Airport Rd. along that route.

Almost 2,700 vehicles a day travel through that area.
