No voting needed in the October Kapuskasing municipal election

There will be no voting in Kapuskasing during this October’s Municipal Election as the position of mayor, the six council seats as well as the four school board trustee positions have been elected by acclamation.

Yesterday candidate Glen Gouldsborough had his nomination for a town council seat denied because it didn’t contain at least 25 endorsements.

Incumbent Dave Plourde will return as mayor while Martin Dinnissen, Gary Fortin, Bruce Newton and Anne-Marie Leblanc are back as members of council. The four will be joined at the table by newcomers Nicole Fortier-Levesque, the former mayor of Moonbeam, and Joann Proulx.

The four school board trustee nominees have also been acclaimed and they include:

Rene Richard — French Catholic School Board

Cindy Sabourin — French Public School Board

Denis Lincez — English Catholic School Board

Bruce Hayter — English Public School Board
