Cochrane Minor Soccer Club establishes the Boyer Cup

The Cochrane Minor Soccer Club has named a trophy in memory of a mother and two young daughters who all died in a traffic accident last Christmas.

The Boyer (BOY-ur) Cup will go to the championship U10 team every year.

It honours Nicole, Zoe and Pyper Boyer, who were part of the club since its inception in 2023.

They, along with husband and father Jason Boyer were instrumental in forming the soccer.club and getting it onto the pitch.

Here is the full statement from Cochrane Minor Soccer.

The Cochrane Minor Soccer Club is proud to announce the creation of the Boyer Cup, an annual trophy that will be presented to the U10 division champions in honour of Nicole, Zoe, and Pyper Boyer.

The Boyer family has been part of CMSC since the organization’s inception.

Jason Boyer was one of the club’s founders, while Nicole was a constant source of encouragement from the sidelines.

Zoe became one of the club’s first referees, earning a reputation for her maturity, reliability, and willingness to help wherever she was needed. Pyper found her confidence on the field, becoming a dependable teammate who always showed up with a smile.

Their involvement reflected the values CMSC strives to foster in every player: teamwork, respect, and community.

“The Boyer family helped shape our club in countless ways,” said Eric Southward, CMSC President.

“This trophy recognizes the example they set both on and off the field. We hope every player who competes for the Boyer Cup understands the story behind it and the values it represents.”

The U10 division was chosen with special meaning. The Boyer Cup has been engraved with every U10 championship team dating back to 2023, when Jason and Pyper celebrated the inaugural division championship together.

Each future U10 champion will add its name to the trophy, carrying the Boyer family’s story forward with each season.

“Soccer gave our family so many wonderful memories,” said Jason.

“Knowing that Nicole, Zoe, and Pyper will continue to be part of the game they loved means more than I can put into words.”
