fire crews getting a handle on forest fires in Kapuskasing and Hearst areas

There is good news on the forest fire front in the Kapuskasing area. The blaze that’s located south of Hearst near Coppell Lake is now being held at 74.7 hectares. Natural Resources Ministry fire information officer Evan Lizotte says five fire ranger crews remain assigned to the fire and are working to put out hotspots along perimeter. Helicopter bucketing support is available and being used as required.

Meantime, crews are still working on extinguishing remaining hotspots on Cochrane 32 that’s located west of Harty and Kapuskasing. The fire north of Highway 11 is considered under control at 2.8 hectares.
