It’s all growth and potential for the Coté gold mine, southwest of the Mattagami First Nation and Gogama.
Iamgold president and CEO Renaud Adams told a Chamber of Commerce lunch in Timmins that although it’s in its early stages, Coté has intergenerational potential.
“We managed in 2024 to produce about 200,000 ounces and in 2025 we hit the nameplate on time,” he boasted. “The team at the mine just pulled it off in the last stretch of the year.”
Adams said in the coming year, the mine improve and optimize operations.
“Coté Gold has a lot of very good potential. One of it is in the large-scale mining in Canada, the average grade (of gold) is about one gram a ton. So Coté is there.”
One partner Adams identified is the Mattagami Nation. The mine is on its ancestral land.
The initial sod turning on Coté took place in 2019. Among dignitaries there were Premier Doug Ford and then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
