Speed limit reduced on part of dilapidated Municipal Rd.

As the condition of Municipal Rd. continues to deteriorate, the city of Timmins is taking a temporary safety measure at least until the potholes are filled.

It has lowered the speed limit to 50 km/h on its 9.1 km of the road, from Hwy. 101 to just north of Barber’s Bay.  The rest of the road, to Hwy. 11, is owned by the town of Iroquois Falls.

City Hall says speed and caution signs are now in place.

It’s also urging caution while a contractor is patching the potholes.

Both municipalities are awaiting word from the province on when a major upgrade of Municipal Rd. will begin, following last year’s announcement of funding for the work.
