Two million dollars misspent, municipality launches investigation

An investigation has been launched into the misappropriation of more than $2-million of money belonging to the Town of Cochrane.

Limited in what it can say publicly, the municipality says the money is related to the Grain Bin Project that began in 2021. It also notes that the misappropriation appears to have occurred under the purview of the town’s previous CAO, financial department and council of the day.

The money appears to have been spent. Town hall says recovery of it would have a positive impact on future budgets.
