The boil water advisory in Porquis is expected to be lifted on Sunday morning.
Town of Iroquois Falls public works director Steve Poliquin says it was a precautionary measure resulting from “a perfect storm”.
The tank had been emptied for regular five-year maintenance. Then during a thunderstorm Wednesday night, the power went out, shutting down the pumps and depressurizing the lines. That meant potential for contaminated ground water in the system.
“As optically bad as it looks, having a boil water (advisory),” says Poliquin, “it was more based on just making sure that we didn’t have anything adverse in our lines.
Sunday morning is when Poliquin is expecting a second test result giving the all-clear.
