Fauquier Strickland town council accepts provincial help

Fauquier-Strickland town council has agreed to accept the $300,000 one-time bail-out from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

The town is facing a financial crisis and was going to suspend all municipal services and lay off its employees if a solution hadn’t been found. The Ministry says the money will be given in installments until the end of October, but certain conditions are attached.

They include: the adoption of several resolutions ranging from the approval of the operating, water and wastewater budgets by the end of this month, and tax bills with a due date of September 30th to be issued.

Moose FM has reached out to Mayor Madeline Tremblay for comment, but she has not returned our call and e–mail.
