A mini-tour of Northeastern Ontario brought the king’s representative in Ontario to Timmins today.
First stop for Lieutenant-Governor Edith Dumont was city hall, to sign the guest book and meet with dignitaries.
Her Honour’s Timmins visit includes stops at La Ronde; the Hollinger open pit lookout; Quilts for Survivors; and the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre.
“Next week, I will be with people from other cities,” she told reporters. “They’re always asking me ‘where have you been, where are you going?’, so we talk about each other. So I think somehow it makes connections at another level.”
The Lieutenant-Governor says she’s been to Timmins before. She was director for the French public school board in the Ottawa region, and came for meetings with the other three.
