Cochrane has a new mayor-elect.
Denis Clement took the mayoral seat with 981 votes. Clement says this was a very exciting and tight race for mayor. He says his first order of business will be to chat with the new council. “I think the priority is to bring everyone together, certainly the new councillors, make one united council so that we are all pulling together in the same direction.”
Clement says throughout the term he promises to work on promoting the community, attracting and keeping businesses in town and try to control the town’s finances. “I think as a group we need to look at all departments and try to come up with some efficiencies so we can re-prioritize some of the spendings.”
Peter Politis was right behind in the polls with 976 votes and Lawrence Martin trailed with 207.
