Northern municipalities like Cochrane and Iroquois Falls will now be responsible for inspection of their apartments and septic systems. The most recent meeting for FONOM focused on a number of issues including responsibility of apartment rentals, inspections and how to reduce fossil fuel use.
FONOM President and Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek says municipalities will now be taking on a few different responsibilities.
He also says the provincial government once carried these responsibilities.
Spacek says FONOM is not happy with the added responsibilities, as well as added costs, which used to be a provincial matter.
