The OPP Auxiliary is an important part of local policing in Cochrane and Iroquois Falls. Detective Dave Gardner with the Cochrane detachment is the liaison officer for the Auxiliary. He says Cochrane and Iroquois Falls OPP are eagerly recruiting new Auxiliary volunteers to help fill out the force, and supplement many important community initiatives.  Regular OPP officers wish they could spend more time in the community supporting local events, providing security at carnivals and festivals, escorting parades, performing charitable activities for the underprivileged, and dozens of other vital community activities. OPP Auxiliary volunteers step in where efficiency demands that regular officers spend their time on other more pressing police duties.
