The Norwalk virus has appeared in the north. The Sudbury and District Health Unit is getting reports of gastro-intestinal illnesses which is normally due to the Norovirus. The virus is highly contagious and everyone is susceptible to it. A major way infected people spread the virus is by preparing food with hands that have not been properly washed. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, body aches and sometimes fever. The health unit says people with Norovirus should stay home and don’t visit hospital patients or those in nursing homes.
