After many parts of the province got hit with snow and freezing rain over the holidays, the OPP is providing some safe winter driving tips. Police say winter tires gives you extra grip and just because you have four wheel drive doesn’t mean you can get away with summers or even all seasons. Local police also say reducing your speed helps keep you and other motorists safe when the conditions aren’t the best.

The OPP is investigating a collision that took place on Highway 11. Police say one vehicle travelling southbound outside of North Bay was rear ended forcing them into the wrong lane. The driver was hit by another vehicle headed in the opposite direction. Part of the highway was closed for several hours as a part of the investigation and a 79 year old man was killed in the collision.
