Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says Liberal ideology is at risk of hurting the north’s forestry industry again. Fedeli sits on the pre-budget talks committee and he heard concerns from the forestry sector when the committee visited Dryden and Sudbury. He says companies have to shut down in the summer because the annual turtle migration takes them over forestry roads as they prepare for the mating season. Fedeli says while no one wants to hurt the animals, there has to be a balance. Fedeli says when one company can’t cut wood and a competitor that doesn’t face the same hurdles can, there’s no longer a level playing field.
