The Special Investigations Unit has determined that OPP officers are not responsible for the death of a 22 year-old Kapuskasing man. The investigation included interviews with several officers and civilians. The SIU found that last October police received reports of a 22 year-old man who was missing and in possession of a firearm. Officers were able to locate the car and called in specialized response teams to assist. That morning the man was found dead in his vehicle. The cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation determined the officers involved did all they could to prevent the man’s final act.
