MOVING ABANDONED ANIMALS

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reminding the public that not all unsupervised wild animals have truly been abandoned, and that not all injured animals require rescue.  The Ministry says some species leave their young for extended periods of time while gathering food, or to lead potential predators away.  If you find a juvenile animal in the wild, observe it for a day or two in order to determine whether or not it has actually been abandoned.  If so, contact the MNRF for further instructions, since the appropriate response could differ from species to species.
