When the Iroquois Falls Storm begin the next half of the NOJHL season Thursday night at home, it will be a different coaching staff on the bench.
Team owner Tom Nickolau has fired head coach Tyler Pracek and GM Paul Gaudet.
He notes that the team only has eleven wins so far and has only once beaten a team over .500.
Interim coach and general manager the rest of the season is local hockey product Jamy Bernier, who helped coach the Cochrane Crunch seven years ago. He’s joined by assistant coach Jared Dupuis, a former Blind River player. Remaining on the staff is Alex Brisson.
Nickolau says changes are also possible in the players’ ranks.
“The trade deadline’s on Friday,” he notes. “We’re still looking at improving the hockey club. We owe it to our fan base here to put the best product on the ice and make a push to the playoffs.”
The Storm hope to start improving their eleven-and-18 record Thursday, but it won’t be easy. They’re hosting the 23-and-6 Hearst Lumberjacks, beginning at 7:30pm.
