The Alzheimer Society branch serving the Cochrane-Timiskaming region is officially opening a new office in Iroquois Falls on Monday.
Executive director Tracy Koskamp-Bergeron says it outgrew the space where it held day programs at the social services administration office, and an opportunity arose for a more visible location.
“We were able to actually combine our day program with having some office hours for people to drop in and get some information,” she explains.
The office will offer all the services provided by the Alzheimer Society..Koskamp-Bergeron says that includes caregiver support, education, behaviour support and more intensive support for families whose loved ones have Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
“It will really allow the staff who serve the region of Iroquois Falls, Cochrane and Matheson to have a location where people can come to them, rather than having to drive all the say to Timmins.”
The ribbon cutting is set for 11:00am Monday at 59 Main St., Unit 4. Then it’s open all week for drop-ins to get more information. Normal office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 9:00am and noon.
