The pandemic recovery continues at the Iroquois Falls Curling Club.
President Elaine Majalahti is hoping for a better year with higher membership than the last couple. She’s also hoping for a good turnout to the club’s annual general meeting, Sunday at 6:30pm – whether to take on a volunteer job or just indicate a willingness to play.
Majalahti says members can be as young as six.
“We have a very dynamic, starting last year, a very dynamic Little Rock and Bantam league,” she says. “They did wonderful last year. We had about 37 members, so that’s pretty good.”
Majalahti’s hoping the membership can get back to running curling events through the season. They raise money and keep membership fees down.
“Absolutely. As you know, our club rents from the town, so the rent is quite significant and in to keep the doors open, we have to have events and members.”
