I.F. Museum inaugurates exhibit related to Iroquois Falls Storm junior hockey team

The biggest summer tourist attraction in Iroquois Falls is promoting the biggest winter attraction, and vice versa.

This Sunday from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, the Iroquois Falls Museum is holding a reception in conjunction with the unveiling of a new exhibit in honour of the Iroquois Falls Storm junior hockey team.

Historical Society president Danny McIntyre says the display incorporates Storm memorabilia with past junior teams going back more than a century.

“NOHA champion teams from 1923 and 1930, the Iroquois Falls Juniors and the Ansonville Cubs,” he explains, “and some other memorabilia concerning hockey down through the years in Iroquois Falls.”

In return, the Storm will feature the museum at its game on Saturday, September 21st against the Sudbury Cubs.

“On the Jumbotron will be a presentation about the history of hockey and the history of Iroquois Falls before the game starts,” McIntyre says, “and the museum will be the recipient of (the proceeds of) the chuck-a-puck that night.”
