Cochrane Community Choir needs the most crucial element: New voices

The Cochrane Community Choir is tuning up for its annual Christmas concert, and is looking for more voices.

Margaret Courville is the director of the Christmas event.  She says COVID and the usual demographic attrition has dwindled the number of choir members, and it needs younger members to keep it going.

“A choir is about blending in,” she says, in response to the usual question about vocal talent. “You do have to be able to blend in and carry a tune. But that’s what it’s about. You don’t have to have the Céline Dion voice that everybody things they have to have.”

“This is going to be our 48th annual Christmas concert. We started in 1976, (and) went through COVID. We still have a good sound, but we do want to refresh the choir.”

Rehearsals are held every Monday beginning on September 9th, between 6:30 and 8:00pm at St. Paul’s United Church. The membership fee is a mere $5.00.

If you want to join, contact Margaret Courville or Nancy Irvine, or message the choir’s Facebook page.
