Fundraising for Hillcrest Park in Cochrane continues. Park Pals committee member Lisa Girard says a big event that now happens every year is coming up.
“Friday, June 21st,” she enthusiastically announces, “we’re having our second annual Last Day of School Party, Celebration/Fundraiser Barbecue for Hillcrest Park.”
It all begins when the final school bell rings at 3:30pm. Girard says all the fun and food will be there, along with Cream A Teacher.
“A cream pie is available for a small purchase or donation, and there are six teachers between Aileen Wright School and Nouveau Regard. They have graciously accepted the position of being pied in the face.”
Seventeenth Ave. will be closed between Fourth and Fifth Sts., and the Porcupine Health Unit will be there.
“They’ll be conducting a bike rodeo,” says Girard. “They’ll do bike safety checks, helmet safety checks; EMS will be there with their fire truck, which is a great addition to our event.”
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, everything will be moved from Hillcrest Park to the arena.
