Northern College has revoked admission for 503 international students.
That’s in response to the Northern-affiliated Pures College exceeding capacity. Pures offers some Northern programs at its Scarborough campus. Northern issues associated acceptances. certificates and diplomas.
Northern says the difficult decision not to place the students on its own campuses is because that would have again exceeded capacity, and the college says, not provide the quality of educational experience students deserve.
Some of the students had not secured visas, paid fees,or have withdrawn applications. Northern is working on alternatives with the rest of them.

At Northern College, we take our responsibility for our students, their education and their educational experience seriously.We are aware that the decision we have made regarding admission status for certain students at Pures College of Technology, which we did not make lightly or in haste, is causing much concern and inconvenience for those students and their families.When we learned that the programs at Pures College of Technology had exceeded capacity, we made the difficult decision to revoke admission for 503 students.A program that is stretched beyond capacity will not provide the quality of educational experience that our students deserve.Of those 503 students, we have managed more than ½ of the applicants, Over 50% have either selected refunds or were not continuing. Some applicants had either not secured visas, not yet paid their fees or already withdrawn their applications.For the remaining students, we are working diligently with them to find alternative solutions, including transferring to another of Northern College’s multiple campuses; deferring their admission; transferring their acceptance to another post-secondary institution; or providing a full or partial refund for any tuition fees already paid.Northern College is committed to providing a high-quality, post-graduate work permit (PGWP)-eligible education. This has been and remains our top priority.
