A few seconds into talking with seven-and-a-half-year-old Amelia Arbic, you realize she’s going to be successful in adulthood.
The Cochrane Public School Grade 3 student already is. She operates a lemonade stand in front of her 14th Avenue home. She and her mom Sam say it began with selling stuff on an ironing board.
“It was like stuff I didn’t enjoy,” says Amelia, with er Mom Sam picking it up: Stuff she no longer wanted with some bugs she found and some artwork one time. So this time, she wanted to try it out, do a proper lemonade stand.”
Among the offerings are hibiscus tea, peach juice and would you believe unicorn lemonade?
“It has blue raspberry mixed with glitter,” Amelia explains.
Amelia knows what to do with the money she makes. She uys Timbits and horse toys, which begs the question of her and Mom Sam about whether she has a horse.
Amelia: “Well, I kind of do.”
Sam: “We ride at Horsepower Stables and her poppa did promise her a horse, so we’re still waiting for that (both giggle).”
The lemonade stand operates on Wednesdays at 108 14th Avenue, but might change to a weekend operation.
