Within just over an hour in the middle of Thursday afternoon, three forest fires were reported near Cochrane.
The largest was reported at 80 ha. As of last night, it was listed by the natural resources ministry as “not under control”. It’s roughly 12 km southwest of Cochrane and 10 km west of Highway 11.
The other two are small. One of them was listed at one hectare about 10 km south of Cochrane, between the railroad tracks and Hwy. 11, also not under control.
The other blaze was only one tenth of a hectare and considered “being held”. It’s just east of Cochrane and slightly south of Hwy. 652.
