Cinderella Prom Project offers free prom dresses, suits and accessories

The Cinderella Prom Project is back for the second year in Iroquois Falls.

Organizer Heather Wollan says it provides donated prom dresses, suits and accessories to anyone who needs it for Grade 8 or Grade 12 grad. It’s all free.

Whether you can afford it or not does not come into the equation.

“I find this year, with the rising cost of everything, that I think everyone can use a little help,” Wollan observes.

If you buy your outfit in a store, you put out a lot of money for something that might only be worn once.

“And they’re more than welcome to donate it back,” adds Wollan.

Distribution day is Saturday, April 15th at the Lions Den from 9:00am to 2:00pm. That’s earlier than last year, to allow for alterations, in case you find the outfit you love but it just doesn’t fit.

An obvious question is why Heather Wollan organizes this, other than the goodness in her heart.

“I’ve seen it done in other provinces and cities and I just enjoy helping people. And it’s absolutely free. And Timmins, Cochrane, they’re all welcome.”
