By the end of Thursday, Iroquois Falls will have a new mayor.
The top seat at the town council table became vacant last week, when Pat Britton resigned for health reasons. That opened a potential competition among the six councillors to succeed him. However, the only councillor to file the necessary documents by the deadline was long-time member Tory Delaurier.
His acclamation will be made official at a special meeting Thursday afternoon.
The Delaurier-led council will decide later who to put in his councillor position for the 14 months remaining in this municipal term. It will be open to applications from the general public.
