Yes, it was 27 years ago that the Tim Hortons out on Cochrane’s west highway was built.
As we look back at local history this week, we check out the Cochrane Times from April 16th of that year. Public library archivist Ardis Proulx-Chedore reads the front page article.
“’The contract is signed with M.J.Labelle for the ground work. It will begin immediately,’ said Rick Sicard, sales manager for Labelle’s. ‘The big shovel is there now.’”
She goes on: “The franchise will be located at the corner of Victoria Ave. and Hwy. 11 West. It will be a Tim Horton Model 3000 and feature a drive-through.”
You can wander through Cochrane history in the library’s archives department. A library membership is the only requirement.
