From six o’clock this morning until six o’clock tonight, it’s the Community Cares annual radiothon on 98.1 and 101.1 Moose FM.
We’re raising money for a new state-of-art pulmonary function diagnostic unit for the MICs group of health services.
CEO Paul Chatelain says it’s part of the reinstatement of the respiratory therapy program that lapsed in 2014.
“We were doing pulmonary function tests and other respiratory work,” he says. “That program came to an end, but with COVID what we’ve been noticing is a demand for PFTs, a lot of patients would be travelling to Timmins hospital, so we reinstated the program itself.”
The machine will be stationed in Iroquois Falls and patients from Cochrane and Matheson brought to Anson General Hospital.
“Your donations towards a pulmonary function unit will help provide comprehensive diagnosis for countless patients and for this we are very grateful,” adds Chatelain.
