Having to have a livestreamed telethon this year apparently hasn’t hurt the Bill Harkins Eugene Ricard Santa Claus Fund in Iroquois Falls.
Santa Claus Fund chairman Don Beagan (BAY-ghin) says that as of Monday night, donations connected to the November 21st show total $18,897.00.
“And if you remember correctly, when we went offline on November the 21st, we were just over the $11,000 mark,” he remarks.
“When COVID hit, we couldn’t have the auditorium at the school,” Beagan recounts. “Then the community channel on television went down. We thought it was going to be a nightmare, a disaster. The people stepped up. Unbelievable!”
Vouchers for needy families can be picked up at the Lions Den, starting at 1:00pm Sunday. If you need one or know someone who does, go to the Santa Claus Fund Facebook page.
