Farmers market in Cochrane winds down

To Fresh from the Farm market committee chair Heather Brouwer, the longest-ever year gave us the shortest summer.

The final two market days are this week. Brouwer says the market’s open at the fairgrounds from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, then 10:00am to noon Saturday.

“We should at that point have the winners ready for our quilt block contest,” she notes.  “So we should be able to announce that. Otherwise, it’s just going to be business as usual, just the last day to come out.”

All the seasonal products you would expect will be available, such as produce from local farms.

“I imagine they’ll still have some potatoes and carrots,” says Brouwer. “We’ve got some knitting, we’ve got some herbs, we’ve got some cheese, some baked goods, some handmade masks.”

The agricultural society combined forces with the Cochrane Farmers Market for the shortened season, only being given the go-ahead to start in August, due to the pandemic.
