COMEDY SHOW A SERIOUS FUNDRAISER FOR CADENCE RESIDENCE

A comedy show on Sunday, March 31st is the first big fundraiser for Cadence Residence in Cochrane.

For three years under the administration of the District Social Services Board, the 32-suite residence has been offering supportive housing for seniors who can live independently, but want support services like meals and housekeeping and aren’t ready for fully supported long term care.

Area manager Lee Ann St. Jacques says residents are provided with those services and daily activities, among other things.

“We do not physically assist individuals in this facility,” St. Jacques explains. “ So that again is home care, such as Red Cross, assists if you need help with your bathing or stuff like that.  But it is considered supportive housing, so it’s transitional housing from independent living to full dependent when you get into long term care, if ever the need arises.”

She says because it’s not-for-profit, Cadence must raise money from events, partnerships, sponsorships and donations.

So on March 31st at the Commando Pavilion, internationally-known stand-up comic Derek Seguin will headline a fundraiser.  St. Jacques says tickets are $20.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door, if there are any left.

“Inevitably,” St. Jacques remarks, “your contribution will result in benefit to the community at large as well as supporting affordable transitional housing options for the seniors in Cochrane and area.”
