Buying a cookie could help a local service.
This year the Tim Hortons in Iroquois Falls will be donating the proceeds from its Smile Cookie Campaign to Access Transit. This service helps elderly people, handicapped people and low-income families get around town.
Secretary and Bus Lottery Treasurer Suzanne Castonguay says without donations like this, the bus service wouldn’t be able to run. “Which is money we use for running the bus, buying fuel, repairs, our bus driver salaries.” Castonguay says donations are incredibly important to them.
Last year the campaign raised $6,747. Castonguay says she is hoping for about the same amount of money or more. She says last year someone boosted the donations by starting a pass it on mission. “She sent a dozen cookies to another business and it just got the ball rolling and everybody got involved.” Castonguay says the pass it on mission would be fantastic again this year.
This year’s will run from September 17th to 23rd.
