There is a new Board of Governors Executive Committee at Northern College.
This school year’s four person executive includes George Pirie as Board Chair, Doug Walsh as First-Vice Chair, Domenic Rizzuto is the new Second-Vice Chair and Carly Stringer is taking the Governor at Large position.
Pirie has worked in an executive position in the mining industry for over 18 years. He has experience in finance, operations and strategic, corporate and business development.
Walsh is currently the Director of Public Works for the City of Temiskaming Shores. He has a combined 18 years of municipal service in the city.
Rizzuto is the Human Resources Manager at Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines. He has 30 years of experience in labour relations.
Stringer is the principal practicing lawyer at Stringer Law, focusing on employment, commercial and governance law.
Northern College President Fred Gibbons says combined the new executive has over 10 years of service on some kind of board of governors. Gibbons says it’s amazing to have this caliber of people volunteering their time to help grow the school.
Chair George Pirie says the board’s main priority for this year is to increase domestic student enrollment at all four of the school’s campuses.
The new board officially take on their duties on September 4th and will have its first meeting on the 14th.
