The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge Adds New Race

There is a new addition to this year’s Great Canadian Kayak Challenge and Festival.

The 10th annual event in Timmins will feature a new Friday night race. 93.1 Moose FM will be holding the event’s first ever “No Kayak” Grand Prix. Manager of Tourism Guy Lamarche says you and a team if three can enter a hand made vessel made from recyclable material and race it on the river.

Lamarche says there really is only one rule.

The vessels can not be made from any sort of kayak, canoe or boat frame. Program Director at Moose FM Shane Button says it’s all about team building, working together and having fun while building something together.

He says this event will bring a new element of fun and celebration to the Friday night. Registration for this race is free. Click here for more registration information and forms.

The festival will take place at Participark from August 24th to 26th.
