Multiple charges were handed out during Operation Safe Trucking.
The OPP says last week officers were on the look out for habits that tend to contribute to highway collisions that involve transport trucks. Police say a total of 90 truck drivers were stopped in the Temiskaming area:
- 4 warnings were issued
- 32 drivers were charged with speeding
- 3 were charged with speed-limiter infractions
- 3 were charged with seatbelt offences
- 1 driver was charged with distracted driving
- 8 drivers were charged with moving violations
- 7 drivers were charged with defective equipment
- 12 drivers were charged for improper documents
Officers say limiting these infractions will help ensure everyone on the road gets home safe at the end of the day. The OPP is thanking the majority of drivers who respected the rules.
