(MLB)  The Toronto Blue Jays hung on for a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox last night. Steve Pearce hit his eighth homer of the year and drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. Marcus Stroman struck out five over 6 and two third innings and Roberto Osuna closed it out for his 23rd save.

 

(NHL)  Some NHL notes, Jean- Gabriel Pageau has agreed to a three-year, $9.3 million contract with the Ottawa Senators, avoiding arbitration, while the Philadelphia Flyers have signed first-round pick Nolan Patrick to an entry-level contract. And Brian Campbell has retired from hockey at the age of 38. Campbell, who had a 17-point season with the Chicago Blackhawks last season will be joining the Blackhawks front office with a role in marketing.
