Nipissing MPP Says Transportation Strategy Six Years Late

More criticism is coming from opposing parties over the Liberals 25-year draft strategy for transportation in the North.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Liberal government promised this same strategy to come out all of six years ago as part of the Northern Ontario Growth Plan.

Fedeli says since that original growth plan was released the population has seen a decline in Northern Ontario, including the loss of passenger rail service.

He says their biggest mistake with the plan is failing to include the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission in future plans related to the Ring of Fire.

The Liberal’s draft strategy is meant to address the challenges faced by the region while building on the current system to help improve Northern Ontarians’ quality of life.

Feedback on the strategy is being collected from communities through a questionnaire until September 15th, and for more details, you can go here.
