(MLB)  Jay Happ deserved better, he only allowed two runs on eight hits over 6 and a third innings but the Blue Jays bats went silent as they were shut out 2-0 by the Baltimore Orioles last night. The Jays open a weekend series starting tonight against the Boston Red Sox.

(CFL)  The Calgary Stampeders ran to to a 43-39 win over the Ottawa Redblacks last night. Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell finished with 295 passing yards and a trio of touchdown passes in the win.

(NHL)  Some NHL notes, The Calgary Flames have acquired goaltender Eddie Lack, defenceman Ryan Murphy and a 2019 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenceman Keegan Kanzig and a 2019 sixth-round pick. Elsewhere the Calgary Flames and Kris Versteeg agreed to a one-year contract yesterday worth $1.75 million.  And Dave Semenko, the former NHL tough guy who served as Wayne Gretzky’s bodyguard, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 59.
