(MLB)  Markus Stroman struck out eight over 7 and two third scoreless innings as the Toronto Blue Jays shut out the Baltimore Orioles 4-0. Jose Bautista and Justin Smoak both had solo home runs. Earlier in the day the Blue Jays signed Canadian outfielder Michael Saunders to a minor-league deal.

(NHL)  Some NHL notes, Connor McDavid is cashing in. The Edmonton Oiler star is getting a contract extension  reported to be an eight-year, $106-milliondeal with an average annual salary of $13.25 million. The contract would make McDavid the highest-paid player on an annual basis in the salary-cap era.

(NBA)  Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is heading  to the Houston Rockets in a multi player deal that will see Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, 4 other players and a 2018 first round pick to the Clippers to complete the deal. Paul is a perennial all-star and considered one of the best point guards in the game
