(CFL)  Ricky Ray threw for a career-best 506 yards and a TD as the Toronto Argonauts ran to a 32-15 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last night. Ray finished just short of Toronto’s single-game record of 524 yards, set in 1960 by Tobin Rote.

(MLB)  The Toronto Blue Jays avoided the sweep by beating the Kansas City Royals 8-2 yesterday. Francisco Lariano learned his 100th career win and Jays closer Roberto Osuna struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning a day after saying he was dealing with anxiety issues.

(Golf)  Jordan Spieth won the Travelers Championship when holed out from the bunker for birdie in a sudden death playoff . David Hearn of Brantford, was the low Canadian, tying for eighth at 8 under.

(Auto racing)  Canadian Lance Stroll earned his first podium finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. It is the first time a Canadian has finished on the podium in an F1 race since Jacques Villeneuve finished third in the German Grand Prix in 2001. In NASCAR Kevin Harvick won the Toyoto/Save Mart 350 in Sonoma
