Pet Safety For The Summer Heat

Preparing yourself to enjoy the summer months should include more than just plans for some fun.

As the heat continues to rise, Kapuskasing Veterinary Services would like to remind you to plan smart for your pet to avoid leaving them unattended in vehicles this summer.

Dr. Susan Ramkumar says there are some things you can do to avoid these awful scenarios for your pet.

She says to avoid leaving your pets in unattended vehicles this summer could be the difference between life and death.

Ramkumar also says that animals left in cars unattended can die in less than 15 minutes from heat stroke and if lucky enough to live, can still sustain immense brain damage.

She says the best way to avoid this is to plan ahead and to not leave any pets unattended in vehicles this summer.
