A phone scam has been making its way around Timmins. The Timmins Police Service says people are making phone calls, claiming they are with Revenue Canada, and demanding money. Spokesperson Marc Depatie says Revenue Canada will not call you if you owe money.
Depatie says this fraudster will pressure you into “paying the money you owe” over the phone.
Depatie says if you receive one of these calls; do not give them any information. He says to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
