(NHL)  The Toronto Maple Leafs couldn’t clinch a playoff spot last night losing 4-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning and New York Islanders who beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 both moved to within three points of the Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference standings, Elsewhere the Ottawa Senators clinched a playoff spot beating the Boston Bruins 2-1 in a shoot out,, Winnipeg edged Columbus 5-4, Edmonton doubled San Jose 4-2, Arizona got past Vancouver 4-3 and Calgary skated to a 4-1 win over LA.

(MLB)  Kendry Morales cranked a grand slam and Marcus Stroman pitched 6and a third innings as the Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 last night. It’s Toronto’s first win of the season.

(Masters)  First round of the Master’s saw Charley Hoffman run off seven birdies over his last 11 holes for a 7 under 65 that gave him a four-shot lead. Adam Hadwin was the top Canadian with a 75. World number one Dustin Johnson had to withdraw from the tournament after he injured his back falling down some steps Wednesday at his rental home.

(Curling)  Canada’s Brad Gushue wrapped up a perfect 11-0 round robin at the World Men’s Curling Championship yesterday with an 9-2 rout over Italy in the morning then an 8-4 victory over Norway in the evening. Canada gets hammer in the Page 1-2 playoff game tonight.

(womens hockey)  Team Canada blanked Finland 4-0 and the United States shut out Germany 11-0 yesterday to advance to the Gold Medal game of the Women’s World Hockey Championship. It’s the 18th time in 18 championships the 2 teams have clashed for gold..
