Bisson Says Kapuskasing Will Continue Its Role As Evacuation Centre

Kapuskasing will remain an evacuation centre into the near future.

The new framework agreement signed between provincial and federal governments regarding Kashechewan will not change Kapuskasing’s role in possible future evacuations.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, who was in Kashechewan Friday for the signing of the framework agreement, says Kapuskasing will continue its role moving forward.

Bisson says the agreement signed will finally put the First nations in the driver seat as to where they want their community.

Bisson says another major positive from this agreement will be money saved for the province, as they have spent millions each year on relocating the Kashechewan community.
